The preparation of 5 '-bromo-2'-hydroxyacetophenone is usually carried out by the following steps:
1. Dissolve acetophenone in anhydrous alcohol, such as anhydrous ethanol or isopropanol.
2. Slowly add cuprous bromide (CuBr2) solution Dropwise to the reaction mixture while maintaining the temperature at 0-5°C.
3. After completion of the reaction, the solid product was obtained by filtration, washed with cold ethanol, and recrystallized with ether.
