biological activity | Gamma-Mangostin is a novel competitive 5-HT2A receptors antagonist purified from the husk of the medicinal plant Garcinia mangostana. Gamma-Mangostin is a transthyretin (TTR) profibrotic inhibitor that binds to the thyroxine (T4) binding site and stabilizes the TTR tetramer. Gamma-Mangostin inhibits the binding of [3H]-spiperone to cultured rat aortic cardiomyocytes (IC50=3.5 nM) and reduces the perfusion pressure response of rat coronary artery to 5-HT2A (IC50=0.32 µm). |
Target | 5-hydroxytryptamine 2A (5-HT2A) receptors |
Use | γ-inverted twig has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-allergic, bactericidal effects. for content determination/identification/pharmacological experiments, etc |
