斐林试剂(Fehling's solution) - Introduction
Fehling's reagent, also known as Fehling's reagent, is a chemical reagent commonly used to detect reduced sugars. It is usually made by mixing two solutions, respectively, Fehlin reagent A and Fehlin reagent B.
Fehlin reagent A is A solution containing anhydrous sodium sulfite and sodium hydroxide, which is light blue. Fehling's reagent B is a solution containing copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate in dark blue form.
The primary use of the Fehlin reagent is to detect the presence of reduced sugars. Reducing sugars are a class of sugars that can be oxidized to carboxylic acids, such as glucose and fructose. When the reducing sugar reacts with Fehling's reagent under heating, the copper ions are reduced to the oxidized copper oxide and a red precipitate is formed. The content of reducing sugar can be judged according to the degree of formation of red precipitate.
The preparation of the Fehlin reagent is relatively simple. The Fehling reagent A is prepared by dissolving sodium sulfite in water, then adding sodium hydroxide solution, and finally bringing the solution to constant volume. The Fehling reagent B was prepared by dissolving copper (II) sulfuric acid pentahydrate in water and then adding the solution to a constant volume.
Regarding safety information, the following points should be noted when using Filin reagent:
1. Fei Lin reagent A and reagent B are harmful substances, avoid contact with skin and eyes.
2. In the use of the process, to avoid inhalation of its steam or splash.
3. The mixed solution of Filin reagent A and reagent B has low stability and is easily oxidized by oxygen in the air. Therefore, the prepared mixture should be prepared shortly before use and stored in a sealed container.
4. The waste liquid of Filin reagent should be properly disposed of in accordance with local regulations to avoid discharge into the environment.
