Physiological effects | Alloxan has a special destructive effect on the islet of Langerhans, the islet of the pancreas (islet of pancreas islet). The secretion of insulin causes experimental alloxan diabetes (alloxan diabetes) in animals. The same effect can be caused by one injection of streptozotocin (streptozo), a nitro derivative of glucosamine. |
Preparation | The original alloxan is made from nitric acid oxidation of uric acid, and it can also be made from chromium trioxide oxidation of barbituric acid. |
Use | Aurea is an acylurea of acetone diacid, which can be synthesized by the oxidation of uric acid. It has a special destructive effect on the beta cells of islet of Langerhans (islet of pancreas islet) in the pancreas, suspending the secretion of insulin, and causing experimental alloxan diabetes in animals (alloxan diabetes). The same effect can be caused by one injection of streptozotocin (streptozo), a nitro derivative of glucosamine. |
