p-coumaric acid | p-coumaric acid is also called "4-hydroxycinnamic acid" and "p-hydroxyphenyl acrylic acid". Molecular formula C9H8O3. Molecular weight 164.16. In p-coumaric acid, trans accounts for the vast majority. Pale yellow needle-like crystals. Melting point 214 ℃ (decomposition). Easily soluble in alcohol and ether, soluble in hot water, slightly soluble in benzene and cold water, insoluble in petroleum ether. Reacts with excess bromine in acetic acid to obtain 2, 3-dibromo-3-(3, 5-dibromo-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionic acid, which decomposes quickly with 10% sulfuric acid to release carbon dioxide, and is co-fused with potassium or sodium to obtain 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, which reacts with fuming nitric acid to obtain picric acid, refluxing with 2mol of methyl iodide and 2mol of potassium hydroxide in methanol or heating in a sealed tube at 140°C to obtain methyl 4-methoxycinnamate. Its alcohol solution reacts with ferric chloride in golden brown. Preparation method: It is obtained by the reaction of 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde with anhydrous sodium acetate and acetic anhydride. application:(1) p-coumaric acid is an important intermediate in the production of expectorant rhododendron. (2) as a chemical reagent. Figure 1 is the structural formula of p-coumaric acid. |
