Preparation Method:
2-amino-5-(aminomethyl)naphthalene-1-sulphonic acid can be prepared by two methods:
1. p-Nitroaniline reacts with formaldehyde to generate 5-aminomethyl -1,8-dinitronaphthalene. This compound is then reacted with sulfurous acid to produce 5-aminomethyl-1, 8-dinitronaphthalene sulfinate. Finally, it was converted to 2-amino-5-(aminomethyl)naphthalene-1-sulphonic acid by reduction.
2. by the reaction of nitrosyl chloride and 2-amino naphthalene, 2-nitroso-5-aminomethylnaphthalene is generated. This compound is then reacted with formaldehyde to produce 5-aminomethyl-2-nitrosonaphthalene. Finally, 2-amino-5-(aminomethyl)naphthalene-1-sulphonic acid was formed by reaction of sodium sulfite with this compound.
