Introduction | The Meliaceae family is mainly distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan provinces of China. This traditional Chinese medicine has used the stem of Melia macrophylla for the treatment of colds, limb anesthesia, and joint extension and flexion difficulties. Qi Zeng et al. reported that 4 '-O-methyl larch resin alcohol can be extracted from Melia macrophylla. |
extraction method | Qi Zeng et al. reported the extraction method of 4 '-O-methyl larch resin alcohol: at room temperature, the powder of the stem (10kg) of Melia latifolia was extracted six times with 95% ethanol. The alcoholic extract was concentrated in vacuo to an aqueous residue, which was extracted sequentially with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and n-butanol. The ethyl acetate extract was purified by silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 and preparative HPLC to give compound 1-37, wherein compound 19 is 4 '-O-methyl larch Resol as a yellow oil. |
