4-(2-Hydroxy-1-naphtylazo)benzenesulfonic acid - Introduction
4-[(2-hydroxy-1-napthyl) azo] benzensulphonic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C16H13N3O4S. It is an orange-yellow to red granular solid, insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers and ketones.
This compound is commonly used in the dye industry and has good dyeing properties. It can be used as a colorant for certain organic materials, such as plastics, rubbers and fibers. In addition, it is also used as an indicator and pH indicator in some laboratory and medical applications.
The preparation of 4-[(2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl)azo] benzensulphonic acid is usually achieved through azo coupling reaction. First, aniline is mixed with sulfuric acid and nitric acid to form the nitrated aniline. Nitroaniline was then coupled with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthylamine to give 4-[(2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl)azo] benzensulphonic acid.
4-[(2-hydroxy-1-napthyl) azo] benzensulphonic acid is highly safe, but you still need to pay attention to personal protection. During operation, wear eye protection and gloves to avoid inhalation or skin contact. In addition, it should be operated in a well-ventilated place to avoid dust and steam. If ingested or inhaled, seek medical help immediately.
