Use | N-hydroxyethylimine diacetic acid is a useful compound for organic synthesis. as complexing agent. |
production method | 60g of chloroacetic acid was dissolved in of water, neutralized with 25g of potassium carbonate, and then 15g of ethanolamine and 40g of potassium carbonate were added, the mixture was heated at reflux for 3H, cooled and acidified to pH = 2 with concentrated hydrochloric acid. Crystals of hydroxyethylimine diacetic acid were precipitated after cooling by standing. The product was recrystallized from water, 22g, yield 50%. |
