Amberlyst 35 resin - Names and Identifiers
Amberlyst 35 resin - Introduction
Amberlyst 35 resin is a cross-linked polymer resin with strong acidity, and the main component is polysulfonic acid resin. It is a colorless to pale yellow solid and is insoluble in water. If exposed to humid air, it will absorb moisture.
Amberlyst 35 resin has good ion exchange performance and is especially suitable for acid catalysts in organic reactions. It can be used to catalyze many organic synthesis reactions such as esterification, acylation, etherification and ring-opening reactions. It can also be used in water treatment, ion exchange and chromatographic analysis.
Amberlyst 35 resin is generally prepared by polymerization. First, sulfonic acid chloride (ScCl) in dichloroethane is reacted with divinyl phenyl ether (DVB) along with an initiator to produce a crosslinked polysulfonic acid resin. Then through subsequent treatment steps, such as filtrate, washing, drying, etc., the final Amberlyst 35 resin product is obtained.
Regarding safety information, the following points should be noted when using Amberlyst 35 resin: First, direct contact with skin and eyes should be avoided because of its strong acidity. Second, you need to pay attention to good ventilation during use to avoid inhaling dust or vapor. In addition, contact with strong bases, oxidants or halogens should be avoided to avoid unsafe chemical reactions. Finally, when disposing of waste, it should be properly disposed of according to local regulations.
