BenzyltributylaMMoniuM broMide(BTBAB) - Introduction
Benzyltributylammonium bromide(Benzyltributylammonium bromide) is an ionic surfactant with the following properties and uses:
Nature:
-Appearance: colorless crystal or crystalline powder
-Molecular formula: C28H46BrN
-Molecular weight: 475.57g/mol
-Melting point: 68-72 degrees Celsius
-Solubility: Soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers and chlorinated hydrocarbons
Use:
-Surfactant: It can be used to prepare colloids, emulsions and microemulsions, with good surface activity and emulsifying properties
-Catalyst: It can be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis to promote the reaction
-Antibacterial: Often used as an antibacterial agent in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries
Method:
Benzyltributylammonium bromide can be prepared by reacting tributylamine with bromobenzene. First, tributyl amine is reacted with bromoethane to obtain tributyl bromoethylamine. Tributylbromoethylamine is then reacted with bromobenzene to produce Benzyltributylammonium bromide.
Safety Information:
The use of Benzyltributylammonium bromide is subject to general laboratory practices. In the use of the need to pay attention to the following matters:
-Avoid contact with skin and eyes, if contact should immediately rinse with plenty of water.
-Avoid inhaling dust and maintain a well-ventilated working environment when using it.
-In case of discomfort, discontinue use immediately and seek medical advice.
-Storage should be sealed and kept away from fire and heat sources.
