Butanoic acid, 2-Methylene-, ethyl ester - Upstream Downstream Industry
Butanoic acid, 2-Methylene-, ethyl ester - Introduction
ETHYL 2-ETHYLACRYLATE, also known as ETHYL acetovinylate or vinyl acetate, is a colorless liquid with the chemical formula C7H12O2. The following is a description of the nature, use, preparation and safety information of ETHYL 2-ETHYLACRYLATE:
Nature:
-Appearance: colorless liquid
-Density: approx. 0.90g/cm³
-Boiling point: About 122-124 ° C
-Melting point: About -81 ° C
-Solubility: Soluble in many organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers and ketones
Use:
- ETHYL 2-ETHYLACRYLATE is widely used in the polymer industry to prepare polymers and resins. It can be used as a raw material for synthetic adhesives, coatings, plastics and rubbers.
-At the same time, it can also be used as a plasticizer, synergist and synthetic intermediate of other organic compounds in coatings.
Method:
ETHYL 2-ETHYLACRYLATE can be prepared by the following steps:
1. Acetic acid and chloroacetic acid react under alkaline conditions to generate ethyl 2-chloroacetate.
2. ETHYL 2-ETHYLACRYLATE is generated by Wittig reaction between ETHYL 2-chloroacetate and ethylene.
Safety Information:
- ETHYL 2-ETHYLACRYLATE is a flammable liquid, which may burn when exposed to open flame, high heat or oxidant, and should be stored away from the source of fire.
-Use with care to avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help.
-During use, a good ventilation environment should be maintained and combustible gas and steam should be avoided.
-storage should avoid contact with oxidants, nitric acid, alkali and other harmful substances.
