Use | Use tocopheryl acetate, also known as vitamin E acetate, is a common vitamin supplement. It is an ester of acetic acid and tocopherol (vitamin E) and is commonly used in skin care products such as skin creams. Tocopherol acetate is not oxidized and can penetrate the skin into living cells, where about 5% is converted to free tocopherol, providing a beneficial antioxidant effect. Because the phenolic hydroxyl groups are blocked, tocopherol acetate is used as a substitute for tocopherol itself, providing a less acidic, longer shelf life product. It is believed that once absorbed by the skin, acetate is slowly hydrolyzed to regenerate tocopherols, providing sun protection. |
Safety Description | 24/25 - Avoid contact with skin and eyes. |

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel process for the production of α-tocopherol acetate comprising, in the presence of a catalyst of the formula Mn (R1SO3-)n, 6-trimethylhydroquinone-1-acetate with phytol (R = OH in Formula IV), isophytol (R = OH in Formula III) or (ISO) selected from the following formula III and IV the phytol derivative is reacted and, if necessary, any 3-phytonyl-2, 5, 6-trimethylhydroquinone -1-acetate obtained as an intermediate reaction product is cyclized, to produce α-tocopherol acetate, in formulae III and IV representing (ISO) phytol derivatives, R = C2-5 alkanoyloxy, benzoyloxy, methanesulfonyloxy, benzenesulfonyloxy or tosyloxy, in the formula Mn (R1SO3-)n, Mn is silver, copper, gallium, hafnium or rare earth metal cations, n is the valence of the cation Mn, R1 is fluoro, C1-8 perfluoroalkyl or perfluoro
.Abstract:
vitamin E (tocopherol) deep processing products such as tocopherol succinate, tocopherol acetate chemical stability, in many aspects of efficacy and ease of use is the improvement of vitamin E, not only can make up for its lack of application, it can also expand its application areas. So far, the deep processing of vitamin E is mainly focused on the use of the same type of tocopherol raw materials. In this paper, the preparation process of tocopherol succinate and tocopherol acetate was studied by using natural tocopherol and synthetic tocopherol as raw materials. Experimental study found that... view all

Abstract:
natural α-tocopheryl acetate is widely used in medicine, food, cosmetics, feed and other aspects such as for the protection of periodontal tissue, promote ulcer healing and fight inflammation, not easily affected by air, light, UV oxidation, compared with natural α-tocopherol has better stability. There are few reports about the production of α-tocopherol acetate in the industry in China. The reports in the laboratory process are based on the esterification reaction of triethylamine or concentrated hydrochloric acid/zinc oxide as catalyst, but the reaction time is too long, other impurities in the reaction are difficult to remove, and the esterification rate of α-tocopherol acetate is not high, which makes it difficult to realize industrialization.
