Use | Potassium salt of di-tert-butyl phosphate is a catalyst used in organic synthesis. Potassium di-tert-butyl phosphate is a catalyst for organic synthesis. It is also used to prepare HIV attachment inhibitor BMS-663068. |
Preparation | Combine di-tert-butyl phosphite (40.36mmol) with potassium bicarbonate (24.22mmol) in 35ml of water. The solution was stirred in an ice bath and potassium permanganate (28.25mmole) was added in three equal parts over an hour. The reaction was then allowed to continue for another half hour at room temperature. The decolorized carbon (600mg) was then incorporated as the reaction was heated to 60°C for 15 minutes. The reaction is then vacuum filtered to remove the solid magnesium dioxide. The solids are washed with water several times. The filtrate was then combined with one gram of decolorized carbon and heated at 60°C for another twenty minutes. The solution is filtered again to obtain a colorless solution, and then evaporated in vacuum to obtain a crude potassium salt of di-tert-butyl phosphate. |
