Isoapetalic acid - Introduction
Isoapetalic acid (iso-o-Hydroxybenzoic acid) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H8O3, which contains a hydroxyl group and a formic acid group in the structure. It is a colorless crystal or a white crystalline powder.
Isoapetalic acid is mainly used as a chemical reagent and intermediate for organic synthesis and pharmaceutical industry. It can be used in the preparation of dyes, fluorescent dyes, pharmaceuticals, preservatives and other chemicals.
A common method for preparing Isoapetalic acid is through the hydroxylation of benzoic acid. First, benzoic acid is acted on with hydrogen peroxide or benzoyl peroxide to form M-Hydroxybenzoic acid. The M-Hydroxybenzoic acid was then converted to Isoapetalic acid by esterification under alkaline conditions.
For safety information, Isoapetalic acid should be kept away from fire and high temperature to prevent contact with oxidizing agents. Wear appropriate protective equipment such as chemical protective gloves and goggles during handling or use. Care should be taken to avoid inhalation, swallowing or contact with the skin during the operation. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help. It is recommended to use, properly store and handle the compound under professional guidance.
