Isobutyldimethylsilyl chloride - Introduction
It is an organic silicon compound with the chemical formula C6H15ClSi.
Nature:
is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It has a lower boiling point and a higher flash point. It is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and dichloromethane, but insoluble in water.
Use:
It is often used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It can be used in the synthesis of organosilicon compounds, for example for the preparation of silane compounds, Silicon ethers and polysiloxanes. In addition, it can also be used as a surface treatment agent to provide water resistance, corrosion resistance and anti-adhesion properties of the material.
Method:
The phosphor is generally obtained by reacting isobutene with methyl chloride and thionyl chloride in the presence of a copper catalyst.
Safety Information:
Very irritating, avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves and face shields. Avoid inhalation or ingestion. During use, attention should be paid to ventilation to avoid the accumulation of its vapor in a closed space. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help if needed.
