Lead maleate, tetrabasic - Physico-chemical Properties
Lead maleate, tetrabasic - Introduction
Tribasic lead maleate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Pb(C4H2O4)2 · 3PbO. The following is a description of the nature, use, preparation and safety information of tribasic lead maleate:
Nature:
1. Appearance: Tribasic lead maleate is white or yellow crystalline powder.
2. Density: Relative density.
3. Melting Point: the melting point is high, about 500 degrees Celsius.
4. Insoluble in water, but soluble in acid.
5. In the air will gradually lose carbon dioxide and yellow.
Use:
1. Tribasic lead maleate can be used as a mordant for the production of dyes and pigments.
2. It can also be used in electroplating, anti-corrosion and other industrial fields.
3. Because of its light stability and durability, it is also commonly used to make paints and pigments.
Preparation Method:
There are two main methods for preparing tribasic lead maleate:
1. Dissolve maleic acid in an acidic solution, and gradually add lead oxide to react to obtain a tribasic lead maleate precipitate.
2. Lead maleate is dissolved in concentrated alkali solution and heated to evaporate to obtain tribasic lead maleate crystal.
Safety Information:
1. Tribasic lead maleate is irritating and corrosive to the skin and eyes, and protective measures should be taken when using it.
2. Avoid inhalation of its dust or dissolved liquid, avoid contact with the oral cavity and digestive tract.
3. In case of accidental contact with skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help.
4. In use or storage should be placed in fire, dry and well ventilated place.
