| Application | Tetramethylmethane diamine is an organic base, which can be prepared by the reaction of dimethylamine and formaldehyde. There are reports that it can be used to prepare tetrabenazine for the treatment of schizophrenia. |
| preparation | in a 1 L three-mouth bottle, add 162 g formaldehyde aqueous solution, cool to 0~5 ℃, slowly add 545 g dimethylamine aqueous solution dropwise. Natural heating to room temperature (28 ℃), stirring for 8 hours. after cooling the reaction liquid to 0~5 ℃, slowly add 250 g of potassium hydroxide solid to separate out the organic phase, and dry with 50 g of sodium hydroxide. After filtration, 172 g tetramethylenediamine was obtained by atmospheric distillation of the organic phase with 84% yield and 99% HPLC purity. |
