Use:

Preparation Method:
2-hydroxy-4-(methylamino)benzoic acid can be synthesized by the following steps:
1. First, p-nitrotoluene was prepared by the reaction of nitrite with p-toluidine.
2. p-nitrotoluene reacts with formaldehyde under alkaline conditions to generate N-methyl p-nitrotoluene amine.
3. N-methyl p-nitrotoluene amine is hydrogenated with sodium hydroxide to generate N-methyl p-aminotoluene.
4. N-methyl p-aminotoluene reacts with m-hydroxybenzoic acid under acidic conditions to obtain the final product 2-hydroxy-4-(methylamino)benzoic acid.
