O-Methylisourea acetate(O-Methylisourea acetate) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H7N3O2. It is a solid, colorless or white crystalline, soluble in water and organic solvents.
O-Methylisourea acetate has a variety of applications. It is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate for the synthesis of some drugs, such as the antiepileptic drugs phenobarbital and midazolam. It can also be used as an intermediate for ethylene synthesis catalysts and textile dyes.
The method for preparing O-Methylisourea acetate is usually prepared by reacting p-methylisouuric acid and acetic acid. Methyl isouric acid is first dissolved in acetic acid and then heated to react to form the O-Methylisourea acetate. The product is then purified by cooling crystallization.
