| overview | phenoxyacetic acid is naturally found in cocoa beans and has a sour sweet fragrance and a honey-like taste. Appearance is crystalline solid, melting point 98~100 ℃, boiling point 285 ℃ (decomposition). According to relevant data, acute toxicity data of phenoxyacetic acid: oral LD50>5g/kg (rats), skin test LD50>5g/kg (rabbits). It can be made of phenol and monochloroacetic acid as raw materials, condensed in sodium hydroxide solution, formed into sodium phenoxyacetate, and then acidified. Phenoxyacetic acid is recognized as GRAS by FEMA, FEMA No. 2872, and approved by FDA for consumption, and is included in the list of artificial edible spices that are allowed to be temporarily used in food without harming human health by the European Council. | Production method | Phenoxyacetic acid is obtained by condensation of phenol and chloroacetic acid in an alkaline solution, and then acidification. the preparation method is to add phenol into the reaction kettle, add equimolar sodium hydroxide aqueous solution, add chloroacetic acid and sodium hydroxide aqueous solution dropwise at 100~110 ℃ respectively, keep the pH of the reaction solution at 10~11, finish dropwise addition, react at 100~110 ℃ for 30min, add hydrochloric acid to neutralize until pH = 1~2, precipitate phenoxyacetic acid, cool and filter to obtain white solid products. |
