Application | Potassium 3-pyridyl trifluoroborate can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis, and can be prepared from 4-methoxyboric acid as the reaction raw material. It can also be prepared from pyridine-2-ylboric acid as the reaction raw material, and can be used in the laboratory research and development process and chemical production process. |
Preparation | KHF2(2.09g,26.8mmol) was added in batches to the solution of MeOH(2.6mL) of pyridine-2-ylboronic acid (1.0g,8.93mmol) under nitrogen protection at 0°C. Then continue to add H2O(5.95mL,4.5M) dropwise to the suspension at 0°C. The ice water bath was removed and the reaction was stirred at room temperature until 11BNMR indicated that the reaction was complete (~ 2 min). The crude mixture was concentrated and vacuum dried overnight, using acetone (60mL), the crude solids were purified by continuous Soxhlet extraction (4h). Concentrate the collected solvent, then re-dissolve in a minimum amount of acetone (5mL), and add ether (30mL) to precipitate the product. The product was filtered, concentrated and dried in vacuum to obtain pure compound potassium 3-pyridyl trifluoroborate (1.08g,8.03mmol) in 90% yield. |
