SODIUM HYDROSULFIDE HYDRATE - Introduction
Sodium hydroxide hydrate, chemical formula NaHS · H2O, is a white crystalline solid. Its nature is as follows:
1. Solubility: high solubility in water, alkaline solution.
2. High humidity sensitivity: easy to absorb moisture, need to avoid humid environment when stored.
3. Odor: strong corrosive hydrogen sulfide odor.
Sodium hydrate is commonly used in the following areas:
1. Chemical reaction: as a vulcanizing agent for organic synthesis chemical reaction, can be used for reduction of aldehydes, ketones, acid chloride and other compounds.
2. Detoxification agent: used in waste water treatment, waste gas purification and other environmental protection fields, can neutralize sulfur in sulfur-containing sewage and harmful gases.
3. Metal surface treatment: used in the formulation of metal corrosion inhibitor, can be used for grinding, die casting and other processes of metal cleaning and reduce the rate of metal corrosion.
The preparation method of Sodium hydrate hydrate is as follows:
1. Sulfur and hydrogen reaction: sulfur and hydrogen are introduced in sodium hydroxide solution to generate hydrogen sulfide gas and hydrate precipitation.
2. Reaction of Sodium sulfide and hydrochloric acid: Sodium sulfide solid is reacted with hydrochloric acid and hydrated to obtain Sodium hydroxide hydrate.
Note the following safety precautions when using Sodium hydrate hydrate:
1. Corrosive: Sodium hydrosulfide is corrosive and avoid contact with skin, eyes, etc. Wear protective gloves, goggles and other personal protective equipment during use.
2. Ventilation: Maintain good ventilation during operation to avoid the accumulation of hydrogen sulfide gas.
3. Storage: storage should be sealed, away from humid environment, avoid contact with other substances such as acids.
4. Waste disposal: Waste shall be disposed in accordance with local environmental regulations and safe operation procedures.
When using Sodium hydrate hydrate, it is recommended to follow the laboratory's safe operating procedures and consult relevant professionals for guidance.
