TIGOGENIN ACETATE - Introduction
Tigogenin Acetate (6-o-acetyl-3-hydroxytetraenol-3, 5-dicarboxylate) is a natural phytosterol compound. It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in acetic acid and organic solvents such as methanol and ethanol, but insoluble in water.
Tigogenin Acetate is widely used in anabolic steroid drugs and commodity perfume manufacturing and other fields. It can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of synthetic glucocorticoid steroid drugs. In addition, it can also be used as a glucocorticoid and steroid ingredient in cosmetic formulations.
The method of preparing Tigogenin Acetate is usually through an assisted esterification reaction of commercially available Tigogenin. In this reaction, Tigogenin is esterified with acetic acid to form Tigogenin Acetate.
