purpose | This product is a reagent for the determination of iron. pharmaceutical intermediates for the synthesis of cefmetazole |
production method | results from the esterification of thioglycolic acid with ethanol in the presence of sulfuric acid. Thioglycolic acid, ethanol, and sulfuric acid were heated under reflux for 24 hours to separate the ester layer, washed four times with saturated brine, and then dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate for 24 hours. The product was obtained by fractional distillation at atmospheric pressure and collecting the 155-158 °c fraction. |
