Polyacetylene can be prepared in three ways:
Preparation from acetylene monomer by catalytic polymerization is the most convenient and practical way;
Two-step synthesis, that is, the first step is to synthesize soluble and processable prepolymers, and then convert them into polyacetylene;
It is prepared from dehydrochlorination of polyvinyl chloride, but the polyacetylene obtained in this way has poor conductivity. The catalysts used for the synthesis of polyacetylene include Ziegler-Natta catalysts and organic transition metal derivatives. Catalyst composed of transition metal salts and certain reducing agents.
