Descriptions | Iron(III) oxide-hydroxide, also known as high iron hydroxide, chemical formula Fe (OH) 3, molecular weight 106.87. Brown cubic crystals or brown flocculent precipitates. Heat to over 500 ℃ and dehydrate to form iron oxide. Insoluble in water, ethanol and ether, the newly prepared ones are easily soluble in Mineral acid and organic acid, but difficult to dissolve after aging. Sodium ferrite can be obtained by co melting with sodium carbonate. It is prepared by reacting Iron(III) nitrate or Iron(III) chloride with ammonia to generate precipitation. Used as a purifying agent, absorbent, for making pigments, drugs, and detoxifying arsenic. Mixed with Calcium oxide, cyanide and hydrogen sulfide in gas can be removed |
