Descriptions | Dithiocyanomethane, also known as methylene dithiocyanate, abbreviated as MBT. Light yellow or nearly colorless needle shaped crystals. Molecular weight 130.2, relative density (20 ℃) 1.1 ± 0.1, m.p.102-104 ℃, flash point 53 ℃. Almost insoluble in water, with a solubility of 2.3 × 10-6 in room temperature water. So when using, special dispersants and penetrating agents are usually added. Dithiocyanomethane is soluble in dioxane, dimethylformamide, etc., and slightly soluble in other organic solvents. MBT is stable in the pH range of 6 to 6.5, but it rapidly hydrolyzes when the pH reaches 8. Dithiocyanomethane belongs to non oxidizing fungicides and is a highly efficient and broad-spectrum fungicide with excellent performance. It has strong killing ability against bacteria, fungi, and algae. When used at a dosage of 10-100mg/kg, the sterilization rate is 99%, and the effect is better when used at a pH of 7. It has a good killing and inhibitory effect on the main bacteria, fungi, algae, and protozoa present in industrial water, especially on sulfate reducing bacteria. Therefore, it is widely used in industrial circulating cooling water (such as large fertilizers, refineries, power plants, etc.), wastewater from sewage discharge, and oilfield water injection as a disinfectant, algal killer, and sludge inhibitor. It can also be used in the cardboard industry for papermaking and food packaging. |
