Descriptions | Sarcosine is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H7NO2. It is a white crystalline powder with a slightly sweet taste and deliquescence. It is soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, and insoluble in ether. It exists in starfish and sea urchins. It is obtained by decomposing caffeine from barium hydroxide, or by reacting formaldehyde, sodium cyanide, and methylamine. It is used in the synthesis of anti enzyme agents and can also be used in the synthesis of biochemical reagents |
