Hosenkoside A is a baccharane glycoside isolated from the seeds of impatiens balsamina. The mean peak concentrations of hosenkoside A in rats after oral administration of total saponins of Semen Impatientis is 162.08±139.87 ng/mL, occurring at times of 0.67 h. The terminal half-lives of hosenkoside A is 5.39±2.06h[1]. Male Wistar rats (7 weeks old, 220±20 g, n=6) are fasted for 12 h. Total saponins of Semen Impatientis at a dose of 300 mg (in 10 mL)/kg are orally administered to rats using a gastric gavage tube. The doses of hosenkoside A is12.4 mg/kg for an oral dose of 300 mg/kg total saponins.
