| Synthesis method | Add samarium iodide (II)(THF solution, usually 6 equivalents) to acid (pure), then add amine (usually 18 or 36 equivalents) and water (usually 18 or 36 equivalents) in an inert atmosphere, and stir vigorously at room temperature.
