N,N-bis (benzyloxycarbonyl) guanidine, also known as DBN, is an organic compound. The following is a description of its nature, use, preparation and safety information:
Nature:
N,N-bis (benzyloxycarbonyl) guanidine is a colorless to pale yellow crystal, soluble in some organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone and dichloromethane, insoluble in water. It has high thermal stability and low toxicity.
Use:
N,N-bis (benzyloxycarbonyl) guanidine is mainly used as a weak base catalyst in organic synthesis. It is commonly used in a variety of reactions, including esterification, acylation, condensation, and nucleophilic substitution. It can also be used as an acid scavenger, ligand and dehydrating agent for hydroxides.
Preparation Method:
N,N-bis (benzyloxycarbonyl) guanidine can be prepared by reacting benzylamine with dimethylformamide. First, benzylamine and dimethylformamide were placed in a reaction flask, and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for a period of time. Subsequently, the resulting mixture is subjected to crystallization or rotary evaporation to obtain N,N-bis (benzyloxycarbonyl) guanidine.
