properties: DNPH molecular formula is C12H13NO5, relative molecular mass is 251.24. It is not readily soluble in water and is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and chloroform. DNPH has strong oxidation and toxicity.
Use: DNPH can be used as a chemical intermediate and an oxidant in organic synthesis. It can also be used for derivatization reagents in analytical chemistry, mainly for the detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in air and water. DNPH can react with a variety of VOCs to form derivatives, which is convenient for subsequent analysis and measurement.
Preparation method: DNPH can be prepared by nitro reaction. First, 2,2-dimethyl-6-methoxy-dimethylbenzopyran-4-one is reacted with nitric acid and then treated with base to give 2,2-dimethyl-6-nitro-dimethylmethoxybenzopyran-4-one.
