-In the second step, the 3-methylphenylethanol synthesized in step 1 is reacted with hydrocyanic acid to produce the nitrile of 3-methylphenylethanol.
-In the third step, the nitrile of 3-methylphenylethanol synthesized in the second step is reacted with ammonia water to generate 2-amino -2-(3-methylphenyl) ethan-1-ol.
