tert-Butyl 4-(toluene-4-sulfonyloxy) piperidine-1-carboxylate, also known as tert-butyl furan carboxylate (TFAA), is an organic compound.
Nature:
TFAA is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a special pungent odor at room temperature. It can be dissolved in ethanol, ether and chloroform, but also in some organic solvents, such as dimethyl ketone and methylene chloride. It is stable in air, but decomposes under ultraviolet light. TFAA is a strongly acidic compound that can react with some basic compounds to form salts.
Use:
TFAA is mainly used in the field of organic synthesis. It is commonly used as an acylating agent to convert carboxylic esters to anhydrides. It can also be used as a precursor for the generation of dipole disks for the manufacture of weak amplitude generators. In addition, TFAA can also be used in drug synthesis, catalyst preparation and electrochemistry.
Preparation Method:
The preparation method of TFAA is usually obtained by reacting toluene-4-sulfonyl chloride and N-methylpiperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester under alkaline conditions.
