1208313-97-6 - Types of ketone dietary supplements
There are many different products on the market, all of which match the name of the exogenous ketogenic supplement. They usually contain the active ingredient β-hydroxybutyrate ketone, and many also contain MCT oil, a fat found in coconut and palm oil, which is combined with salt and potassium.
The two most common ketone weight loss drugs are:
Ketone esters, usually sold in liquid form, are more commonly used in research environments than consumer products.
Ketone salt, usually sold as a powder made by mixing ketones with other chemicals (such as potassium, magnesium, sodium or calcium).
Is the ketone pill effective?
The idea is that these supplements can help you get into ketosis faster; it usually takes two days to more than a week to reach a fat burning state. Once you get ketosis, a supplement can help you stay there. In theory, it all means that you may lose weight faster.
This theory is very reasonable. If you need ketone bodies to achieve ketosis, adding them as a supplement should help you reach it more easily. But whether exogenous ketogenic supplements really work is not entirely clear.

However, significantly reducing carbohydrate intake will lead to water loss, because carbohydrates retain water when stored in the body. When you reduce your carbohydrate intake, the stored carbohydrates-and the extra liquid-are released. This is the cause of rapid weight loss, which is related to switching to a ketone diet.
This is problematic because when you stop the ketone diet, your carbohydrate consumption will increase. This means that your body will be attached to more water, and some weight loss will be reversed in a short time.
For many people, maintaining a ketone lifestyle is difficult because a diet high in fat, adequate protein and low in carbohydrate can be restrictive. Whether you take supplements or not, it is very common to return to weight after dieting.
