4,4 ',4 ''-Tris(N-3-methylphenyl-N-phenylamino)triphenylamine, abbreviated as TATB, is an organic compound with the following properties:

1. Appearance: colorless crystal or white crystalline powder.
2. Melting Point: about 261-262 degrees Celsius.
3. Solubility: insoluble in water, slightly soluble in organic solvents such as ether, alcohols, etc.
4. Stability: It is relatively stable at room temperature, but dangerous reactions such as combustion and explosion may occur at high temperature, fire or in contact with oxidants.

The main use of TATB is as a high energy density material in explosives and propellants. It is often used as an explosive and fuel component in the military field, providing high explosive capacity and kinetic energy output. In addition, TATB is also widely used in the field of fire supplies, rocket propulsion systems, charge preparation and so on.

The typical method of preparing TATB mainly includes the following steps:
1. The nucleophilic substitution reaction of aniline and substrate occurs, and the N-phenyl amino group is introduced.
2. The N-3-methylphenyl group is introduced by the acylation reaction of nitrite ester and activated pantothenate ester.
3. Substitution of the above two groups was repeated three times to obtain TATB.
