4-cyclohexyloxybenzoic acid (acid) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C13H16O3.
Nature:
-Appearance: Colorless or light yellow solid
-Solubility: It can be dissolved in non-polar solvents, such as ether, chloroform and benzene, but it has poor solubility in water.
-Melting point: about 110-112°C
Use:
-4-cyclohexyloxybenzoic acid can be used in the preparation of liquid crystal materials, especially liquid crystals in liquid crystal displays (LCD).
-It can also be used as a synthetic intermediate for polymer compounds, such as polyester and polyamide.
Preparation Method:
4-Cyclohexyloxybenzoic acid is generally synthesized by the following steps:
1. cyclohexanone and bromobenzene reaction, generate organic bromide.
2. the organic bromide and sodium phenyl formate reaction, the formation of esterification products.
3. finally through the hydrolysis of esterification products, generation of 4-cyclohexyl benzoic acid.
