5-Bromo-2-chlorobenzyl alcohol can be synthesized by the following steps:
1. Take 2-chlorobenzyl alcohol and hydrobromic acid to react to obtain 2-bromobenzyl alcohol.
2. 2-bromobenzyl alcohol is reacted with cis-β-bromo-p-chlorobenzyl alcohol, and 5-Bromo-2-chlorobenzyl alcohol is obtained by hydroxy-Grignard reduction.
