| Synthesis method | Add 25% wt sodium methoxide methanol solution (2.1 L) to the 5-bromo -2-chloro -3-nitropyridine (1.70kg) suspension in methanol (6.6 L), and stir under 0-5°C nitrogen. Stir the reaction mixture at 5-10°C for 2.75 hours, and then add water (8.5 L). The reaction mixture was cooled to 20-25°C. Then the mixture is concentrated under vacuum, the resulting suspension is filtered, washed with water (8.5L, then 2 x 4.25 L), and the solid is dried under vacuum to obtain the title compound 5-bromo-2-methoxy-3-nitropyridine.
