| Preparation | The solution of quinolin-8-ol-1-oxide (20g, 124 mmol) in acetic anhydride (200 ml) was stirred at 90°C for 5 hours. The reaction mixture is then poured into the water/ice mixture (1.5L) and made neutral by adding concubines. aq. The precipitate formed is collected by filtration and washed with water. The crude product was suspended in propanol and purified with petroleum ether to obtain 2-oxo-1, 2-dihydroquinoline-8-acetate. 2-oxo-1, 2-dihydroquinoline-8-acetate is heated in a concentrated solution. aq. Soak with hydrochloric acid (200ml) at 90°C for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was poured into ice water (400ml), the precipitate formed was collected by filtration and washed with water. The target compound 2,8-quinoline diol (14.1g,70%) was obtained by recrystallization of propane -2-alcohol/petroleum ether. |
