(R)-2-benzylsuccinic acid is a white crystalline or powdery solid, soluble in alcohol and ether, almost insoluble in water. Its melting point is about 117-119°C. (R)-2-benzylsuccinic acid can undergo esterification reactions and react with some alcohols to form esters.
