Method:
The preparation of-ethyl L usually starts with 2-methyl -4, 6-dinitropyrimidine. First, 2-methyl -4, 6-dinitropyrimidine is reacted with silver nitrite to form 2-methyl-4-nitropyrimidine. The 4-nitropyrimidine is then converted to 4-chloro-2-methylpyrimidine by a chlorination reaction. Finally, 4-chloro-2-methyl pyrimidine and ethyl acetate are esterified under the catalysis of alkali to produce ethyl L.
