Method:
(S)-(-)-Solketaldehyde has many preparation methods, one of which is commonly used by S-ketene acetylation reaction:
-2,2-dimethyl -1,3-propanediol is reacted with formic acid to prepare 2,2-dimethyl -1,3-dihydroxybutyraldehyde.
-2,2-dimethyl -1,3-dihydroxybutyraldehyde was condensed to give Solketaldehyde.
