| Biological activity | Polygalacic acid is a triterpenoid tetrahydroxy acid isolated from the genus Polygala (Polygala paenea L.). Polygalacic acid (0-100μM; 24h) can significantly reduce the mRNA expression of MMP-3, MMP-9, MMP-13 and COX-2. The expression of these factors can be significantly increased induced by IL-1β in a dose-dependent manner. |
