Method:
- Methyl 5-methylindole-3-carboxylate can be prepared by the following reaction:
1.5-methyl indole and bromoacetate are reacted to generate 5-methyl indole -3-ester.
2.5-Methyl indole-3-ester and methanol are transesterified in the presence of a catalyst to generate Methyl 5-methylindole-3-carboxylate.
