Method:
2-fluoro-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl bromide can be prepared by the following steps:
1. 2-Fluoro-6-trifluoromethylphenylformate is reacted with bromine in the presence of a basic catalyst.
2. After cooling the reaction mixture, carbon dioxide and dimethyl sulfoxide were introduced.
3. The resulting solid was separated by centrifugation and then washed with alcohol.
4. The obtained benzyl bromide compound is reacted with a basic catalyst to obtain 2-fluoro-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl bromide.
