3-Hydroxy-2-nitropyridine - Introduction
3-nitroxy-2-nitropyridine, the chemical formula C5H4N2O3, is also known as HNPA (2-nitro-3-hydroxy-4-picolinic acid).
Nature:
1. Appearance: 3-Hydroxy-2-nitropyridine is colorless to light yellow crystal.
2. Melting Point: about 160-162 ℃.
3. Solubility: 3-Hydroxy-2-nitropyridine is slightly soluble in water and has better solubility in organic solvents such as alcohols and ethers.
Use:
1. Chemical synthesis: 3-Hydroxy-2-nitropyridine can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and used in the synthesis of other compounds.
2. Drug research: Because 3-Hydroxy-2-nitropyridine has certain biological activity, it can be used for drug research and development.
Method:
The synthesis method of 3-Hydroxy-2-nitropyridine is relatively simple and can usually be prepared by Nitro reaction. A commonly used method is the reaction of 2-picolinic acid with nitric acid, catalyzed by concentrated sulfuric acid, to yield 3-Hydroxy-2-nitropyridine.
