4-Bromo - Introduction

4-bromo is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H3Br and the structural formula Br-C = C- C = C. The following is a description of the nature, use, preparation and safety information of 4-bromo:

Nature:
- 4-bromo is a colorless to yellow liquid with a strong pungent odor at room temperature.
-It is almost insoluble in water, but soluble in organic solvents such as ether and alcohols.
- 4-bromo has a melting point of -3°C and a boiling point of 157°C.

Use:
- 4-bromo is often used as an intermediate in the synthesis of chemicals, such as amyl oxalate (also known as AA5G), which is a commonly used retarding flame retardant.
-It can also be used as a catalyst or solvent for certain organic synthesis reactions.

Preparation Method:
- 4-bromo can be prepared by directly reacting propylene with bromine. The reaction needs to be carried out in the presence of a chlorinated hydrocarbon.
