1. Reaction of 2-pyrazole methanol with p-tert-butyl benzoic anhydride to obtain 2-tert-butyl-pyrazole-3, 4-dione.
2. Under alkaline conditions, 2-tert-butyl-pyrazole-3, 4-dione and malonic anhydride are reacted to obtain acid.
